Yannis Kyriakides was born in Limassol, Cyprus in 1969 , emigrated to Britain 1975 and has been living in the Netherlands since 1992. He studied musicology at York University, and later composition with Louis Andriessen and Dick Raaijmakers. He currently lives is Amsterdam. He has written over a hundred compositions, mostly of music theater, multimedia and electroacoustic works for chamber groups and large ensembles. His work has been performed worldwide in many prominent music festivals by many leading contemporary music ensembles.
avatonDistorted avatonDistorted is an experimental part of the Avaton Music Festival. Concert is based on the experimental, contemporary performance art with the idea of the live open laboratory of new ideas and sounds. It is open to all spheres of performing arts. For the 5th Avaton Music Festival, avatonDistorted presents : Yannis Kyriakides – “Varosha” Nasia Therapontos – Installation “Re-imagining the old vinegar house” Brice Catherin – “Motionless Opera” Acapella Solo Loop – “Threshold” Ugren-Goulas – “Happiness”
Belgrade-based Nada Kolundzija is an internationally renowned concert pianist and Serbia’s most prominent performer and passionate promoter of contemporary music. Over a career spanning four decades, Ms. Kolundzija has performed as a soloist and as a chamber music collaborator in countless concerts at home and abroad. She won national and international awards and was nominates for awards for her recognition for her artistic achievements in contemporary music.

...is an annual competition sponsored by The Avaton MUsic Festival for the purpose of their musical talents, and to providing local youth between the ages of 15 - 20 the opportunity to further develop and showcaseencourage and promote the love and continued performance of live contemporary music in Cyprus

Old Vinegar Factory is the base of the Centre and the main point of the Theater group MITOS activities. In addition of the annual artistic activities established by the Centre, the Old Vinegar Factory is connected with the actions of MITOS group, as most theater productions were born and developed inside the space.
